KOHALA COAST, Hawai'i – The Vulcans made big progress on Day 2 but it wasn't enough as the Hawai'i Hilo Women's Golf team fell in a head-to-head match to HPU, 618-625, at the Hawai'i Triangular this past weekend at the Mauna Lani Golf Course and Waikoloa Resort Beach and Lakes Courses.
Elle Otani finished 10 strokes over at a tie for second place after shooting a 73 during Round 2's outing at Waikoloa (Day 1 was played at Mauna Lani).
Trinity Ledgerwood followed at 15-plus for a tie at No. 4. Tia Kuali'i and Kiersten Saludares both finished at No. 6 (16-plus).
HPU's Shuiyun He narrowly topped the leader board by two shots to lead the Sharks.
Chaminade also participated in the Hawai'i Triangular but does not field a women's golf team.
Hawai'i Hilo will continue to finish the fall season with two more events on the Big Island with the HPU Sharks Shootout (Oct. 23-24) and the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate (Oct. 27-28).
