Donovan Heads-In Two Goals as No. 5 Vulcans Blank Biola

Hawai‘i Hilo posted its seventh shutout of the season in a 2-0 win over Biola.

HILO, Hawai'i – Megan Donovan added to her blazing-hot scoring streak by heading in the Vulcans' two goals of the match as the No. 5 Hawai'i Hilo Women's Soccer team downed Biola, 2-0, Monday afternoon in Pacific West Conference play at the Vulcan Soccer Field.

Both of Donovan's goals came on second-chance deflections. The first happened just several minutes into the game after Teani Arakawa's shot banged off the crossbar and lofted in air for Donovan to head the ball in for the finish.

Later in the first half, Filippa Graneld's corner kick found its way to Alyssa Padron as she took a hard shot at the goal only to be deflected once again for Donovan to finish with the head-in for the 23rd-minute score.

The Vulcans took six shots in the first half but had just two more the rest of the way. Biola finished with four total shots — all saves made by Hawai'i Hilo goalkeeper Phoebe Barnes to post her third shutout of the season.

With the victory, the Vulcans extended their regular-season unbeaten streak to 34 games dating back to Oct. 3, 2021.
