WAIKOLOA, Hawai'i – Tia Kuali'i posted a consecutive top-20 finish, her second of the week, to lead the Hawai'i Hilo Women's Golf team to a repeat No. 11 placement at this past weekend's Dennis Rose Intercollegiate at The Village Course at Waikoloa.
The Vulcans had finished 11th earlier in the week at the HPU Sharks Shootout at the Waikoloa Resort Beach/Lakes Courses. This time, Hawai'i Hilo finished in a four-way tie at 32-over with Biola, Western Washington and Vanguard.
Kuali'i shot rounds of 74 and 72, hitting four of her five birdies on Day 2 of the event.
Cal State San Marcos and Madison Murr took its second win of the week as the Cougars finished 21 strokes (-13) ahead of runner-up Sonoma State. Murr finished at minus-11 with rounds of 69 and 64. Both also finished in the top spot at the HPU Sharks Shootout.
The Vulcans will have roughly three months off before starting back up with spring competition in a quest for the 2024 Pacific West Conference Championship, which will be held in mid-April at the Mauna Lani Golf Course.
Hawai'i Hilo will begin with the LA Spring Kickoff (Feb. 5-6) in Pasadena, California at the Brookside Golf Club hosted by Cal State Los Angeles.
