LA MIRADA, California – One week after a defeat at home, the Hawai'i Hilo Women's Volleyball team traveled on the road to take down Biola in five sets, 22-25, 25-21, 25-21, 13-25 and 15-11, Saturday afternoon in second-round Pacific West Conference action at the Chase Gymnasium.
The Vulcans broke free from a back-and-forth fifth-set struggle by taking six of the last seven points — including five straight scores — to claim the victory.
Samara Cruz led Hawai'i Hilo with 15 kills (.375) — eight of them coming in Set 2, including the set-sealing point — along with 11 digs for a double-double.
Biola's Abby Brewster put down a team-high 17 kills (.500) with 23 assists, nine digs and three block assists but was kept in-check with factoring in on just four scores in the final set.
