Arakawa Named 2023 CCA All-West Region Player of the Year

Hawai‘i Hilo led all west region programs with five All-West Region Team selections.

SAN FRANCISCO, California – Hawai'i Hilo junior forward Teani Arakawa has been named the 2023 Division 2 Conference Commissioners Association Women's Soccer West Region Player of the Year.

The 2023 All-West Region Teams feature seven repeat honorees, including four First Team selections, and a total of 12 institutions with at least one student-athlete named to the 13-member First or Second Team. Hawai'i Hilo led all programs with five selections, including a pair on the First Team.

Seattle Pacific followed UHH with four, including three First Team selections. Cal State LA, Point Loma, and Western Washington all earned three selections apiece. Cal State San Marcos claimed a pair. Cal Poly Humboldt, Cal Poly Pomona, Cal State East Bay, Concordia, Stanislaus State and Western Oregon were all represented by a single student-athlete.

The top two seeds in the West Region, Point Loma and Seattle Pacific, will go head-to-head in the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer West Region Championship on Thursday, Nov. 30 at 1 p.m. PST in Grand Junction, Colorado.

DIVISION 2 CONFERENCE COMMISSIONERS ASSOCIATION

The D2 CCA encourages and promotes Division II athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of high education. The D2 CCA is a key communications link among the conferences as they discuss views, policies and regulations that impact NCAA Division II athletics and works closely with the NCAA as a communications channel to NCAA Division II member colleges and universities.

The D2 CCA Player of the Year award and all-region teams are nominated and selected by members of the region's athletics communications staffs. The 13 members of the All-West Region first team will now be placed on the national ballot for All-America consideration. The All-America teams will be released Wednesday, Dec. 6.
