HILO, Hawai'i – Six University of Hawai'i at Hilo student-athletes capped their college careers this past semester with the completion of work toward earning a bachelor's degree, culminating with this past weekend's Fall 2023 Commencement Ceremony held Saturday morning at the Vulcan Gymnasium.
Of Saturday's graduates, two are local hometown Hilo products, two are from California and one each from Washington and Texas. Of the student-athletes who earned their degrees, all but two walked across the stage this past weekend.
Many of Saturday's graduates made use of an extra season of athletic eligibility granted from the cancelation or abbreviation of sports seasons during the COVID-19 pandemic.
