Casey Yamauchi got his final season off to a great start to help the Vulcans take down 15th-ranked Augustana four games to one. The Hilo-native batted 7 for 12 (.412) and launched his first career home run on opening night. The shortstop also collected 11 putouts and 18 assists (.967) with three double plays.

Trinity Favela had not played softball since her freshman year at Saint Martin's University in 2019. In her return to the diamond, the O'ahu-native batted .400 (6 for 15) with three RBI, a double, a triple and three runs scored over the Vulcans first five games as they opened the season at the Concordia Kickoff Classic against some of the toughest teams in the west region. The second baseman collected 14 putouts, 12 assists and one double play.
