PEMBROKE, North Carolina – Hawai'i Hilo baseball has entered the top 25 rankings, coming in at No. 25 in the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association NCAA Division II Poll released earlier on Wednesday.
The Vulcans, who received 38 points, are off to a 7-1 start with series wins over previously-ranked Augustana and Great Northwest Athletic Conference preseason favorite Northwest Nazarene.
Reigning National Champion North Greenville is No. 1 with national runner-up and fellow Pacific West Conference mate Point Loma Nazarene at No. 4.
Eleven previously-ranked teams from the preseason poll dropped out of the top 25 poll including Augustana (No. 15) and PacWest-foe Azusa Pacific (No. 14).
In the West Region rankings, the Vulcans totaled 85 points to come in at No. 4 behind PLNU, Cal Poly Pomona and CSU San Bernardino in order. PacWest members APU and Fresno Pacific are at No. 5 and No. 8, respectively.
