PALM DESERT, California – Three Vulcans finished at a tie for No. 20 as the Hawai'i Hilo women's golf team wrapped up spring season opening-play Friday afternoon with the Augustana Spring Fling at the Desert Willow Golf Resort.
Hawai'i Hilo finished the two-day event in the No. 5 spot with scores of 330 and 311 as Kiersten Saludares, Tia Kuali'i and Trinity Ledgerwood each finished 15-over for a three-way tie at 20th.
Saludares and Elle Otani both made huge leaps in round two by improving on their first-round scores by nine and eight shots, respectively, as each moved up 10 spots on the leader board.
Grand Valley State's Olivia Stoll (74–70) took the individual crown with a two-under finish as the Lakers also claimed the team win with a 596 total at plus-20.
The Vulcans finished ahead of fellow Pacific West Conference foe HPU by eight shots.
After also competing in the CSUSM Fujikura Invitational earlier this week, Hawai'i Hilo will have a half-month off to prepare for the RJGA Palm Valley Classic in Goodyear, Arizona at the end of March.
