SAN DIEGO, California – The Hawai'i Hilo men's tennis team began its week-long slate with a 6-1 loss to 41st-ranked Point Loma Nazarene Monday morning at the Sea Lions' home court.
Joshua Liu earned the lone point for the Vulcans in the singles round after taking the third set, 11-9, to defeat Andrew Suver in the No. 4 spot. Both players took the first sets one apiece with 7-5 scores.
At the No. 1 flight, third-ranked Alexander Leischner held 65th-ranked Luca Matheiowetz scoreless for the 2-0 win.
In the second slot, No. 30 Tyler Davis defeated Filippo Di Perna by scores of 6-2 and 6-3.
The duo of Leischner and Davis is ranked No. 12 in doubles.
Hawai'i Hilo (1-3 overall) will continue on in California, taking on Midwestern State, Concordia University Irvine, Azusa Pacific, Colorado Mesa, MSU Denver and Fresno Pacific.
Tuesday's scheduled match with Biola was postponed due to weather.
