LA QUINTA, California – The Hawai'i Hilo men's golf team officially tee'd off the spring portion of the 2022-23 season as the Vulcans finished seventh at CSU San Bernardino's 17-team Battle In The Desert earlier this week at the PGA WEST Pete Dye Mountain Course.
Dustin Franko and Junsu Im led the Vulcans with seventh-place finishes after both one-over with a 217 score. Nine total players fell into a tie at No. 7.
Keith Ng was one of only three players to shoot a 68-round and finished day No. 1 tied atop the individual leader board but followed up with three-over and four-over rounds 2 and 3, respectively, as he fell to a No. 18 placement.
CSU San Bernardino's John Kim also had a 68-round and followed up with scores of 69 and 73 to finish minus-six overall to take the individual crown.
Cal State East Bay took the team win with a four-plus score after leaping up from the fourth-place spot and five shots behind after the second round. CSU San Bernardino finished as runner-up after leading through the first two days.
Hawai'i Hilo will be back in official action at the end of March with the Hanny Stanislaus Invitational at the Turlock Golf & Country Club.
