HILO, Hawai'i – The Hawai'i Hilo men's tennis team wrapped up its regular season at home Friday afternoon, hosting the No. 26 HPU Sharks with a 5-2 defeat in the final tune-up before next week's Pacific West Conference Championships.
The Sharks got an early advantage by taking the doubles point with wins on courts one and three.
It was a tough battle in the singles matches with two of the Vulcans' losses going to a decided third set.
Zen Yoshida took the victory at the No. 3 spot with scores of 6-4 and 6-2 while Augstin Gentile fought back from down one set to take the win 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 on court four.
Hawai'i Hilo celebrated its senior student-athletes Yoshida, Joshua Liu, Ryosuke Sowa and Manuel Loera in addition to the women's team's lone senior Anouk van Hoek.

Hawai'i Hilo moved to 4-10 overall as No. 26 HPU moved to a 10-5 record.
The Vulcans were voted in at the No. 8 spot in the final PacWest Conference rankings released this past Monday, making the cut for next week's PacWest Championships. The eight-team tournament is set for April 19–22 in Surprise, Arizona.
The women's team will also be making the trip to the 12-team PacWest Championships after receiving a No. 9 ranking.
