No. 23 Women's Soccer Victorious Over Jessup

HILO, Hawai'i – Teani Arakawa netted a pair of scores as the No. 23 Hawai'i Hilo Women's Soccer team blanked Jessup, 3-0, Saturday afternoon in Pacific West Conference action at the Vulcan Soccer Field.

With the two goals, Arakawa became the program's all-time leading goal scorer with 26 as a Vulcan to surpass Kristine Pasek (11-14). Arakawa, whose career total extends to 31 from having spent her freshman year at Division-I South Dakota State, is also ranked No. 9 for goals per game (0.63) among all current NCAA players. For the current season alone, she is also ranked No. 9 at 0.89 goals per game (No. 13 in total goals).

The Maui native is also currently holding the top spot in Division II for shot accuracy this season with a mark of .905.

Earlier this season, Arakawa became the Vulcans all-time points scorer.

Saturday afternoon, Arakawa got the Vulcans on the scoreboard in the 13th minute off an assist by Jazlynn Ellis. Later in the 32nd minute, Arakawa stole the ball on a pass back to the Jessup goalkeeper and put in through for the score.

Filippa Graneld netted a long-range goal in the 52nd minute for career score No. 16, moving to No. 3 in program history with 52 points. She also moved to a tie at No. 5 with Alyssa Padron (who assisted on Saturday's goal) with 16 career goals.

Phoebe Barnes and Kaytlin Blair combined for the team's seventh shutout on the season as 27 Vulcans players saw action in the contest.
