HILO, Hawai'i – Samy Sierra connected with Alyssa Padron twice for scores as No. 19 Hawai'i Hilo Women's Soccer posted a 5-0 shutout of Menlo Tuesday afternoon in Pacific West Conference action at the Vulcan Soccer Field.
Sierra assisted Padron on goals in the sixth and 18th minutes.
Aubrey Swindle also netted a pair of goals — her first scores as a Vulcan — as freshman Tatianna Chavez closed the scoring after getting one through in the 77th minute. Annette Sotelo, Majae De Leon and Elise Flores were credited with assists.
Vulcans goalkeeper Kaytlin Blair made her first start of the season, tallying up six saves for the team's eighth shutout.
Hawai'i Hilo dominated control with a 28-8 margin in shots (14-6 on goal) as 28 players saw action in Tuesday's game.
For the time being, the unbeaten Vulcans have moved into sole possession of first place in the PacWest Conference standings with 15 points. No. 24 Point Loma has also collected 15 points but fell to No. 5 Concordia this past weekend. CUI and Chaminade also hold undefeated conference records at 4-0.

No. 19 Hawai'i Hilo moved to a 5-0-0 record in the PacWest (8-0-2 overall) as Menlo moved to a 05-1 conference record (0-8-2 overall).
The Vulcans will head to Southern California for a four-game road trip: Vanguard (Oct. 19), Azusa Pacific (Oct. 21), Biola (Oct. 24), Westmont (Oct. 26). Hawai'i Hilo will return for a two-game home stand to close the regular season, hosting Fresno Pacific (Nov. 2) and Chaminade (Nov. 9).
The top four teams in the regular season standings will qualify for the inaugural PacWest Conference Championships set for Nov. 14-16 at the Orange County Great Park in Irvine, California.

In the United Soccer Coaches Division II Rankings released Tuesday morning, Hawai'i Hilo came in at No. 19 in the Top 25 Week 6 Poll, moving up four spots from the previous week.
The Vulcans also moved up one spot to No. 3 in the West Regional poll.
