SANTA BARBARA, California – Mirai Sato put through the equalizing goal in the 86th minute as Hawai'i Hilo Men's Soccer drew even with Westmont for a tie, 1-1, Saturday afternoon in Pacific West Conference play at Thorrington Field.
Palli Ingvason connected with Sato on a corner kick from the left side just 14 minutes after the Warriors managed to take the lead on a Micah Wilhelm score.
Hawai'i Hilo moved to 4-4-1 in the PacWest (9-5-1 overall) as Westmont moved to a 4-3-1 conference record (7-4-4 overall). For the time being, both teams are tied at No. 4 in the PacWest with 13 points.
OTHER NOTES
- After 30 matches, this is the first to end in a draw for second-year Vulcans head coach Diego Marroquin.
- Ingvason has now scored in consecutive matches after getting his first points of the season with a goal this past Thursday against Biola.
- Sato scored for the first time this season and as a Vulcan, bringing his career total to double digits with 10 goals.
- Freshman Kanilau Tolentino-Perry made his second start of the season.
