TURLOCK, California – Dysen Park posted under-par scores through the first two rounds on the way to finishing No. 19 at the Hanny Stanislaus Invitational at the Turlock Golf and Country Club earlier this week. Hawai'i Hilo Men's Golf finished ninth in the 15-team field.
The Vulcans totaled 284 in Round 2 and shot 294 and 298 in the opening and closing rounds, respectively. Jacob Torres posted a round-best score of 68 (four-under) in Round 2 followed by Park's 70, Dylan Bercan's 71 and Nicholas Gomez's 75. Torres had five birdies and just one bogey.
Park totaled 12 birdies against nine bogeys in the first two rounds to find himself in a five-way tie at 12th place. The freshman shot a 74 on the final day to finish in sole possession of a No. 19 placement among the 92 golfers.
Chico State's Tyler Ashman and Cal State San Bernardino's John Kim shot 64-score rounds, the former of which slid up 11 spots on the final day before winning a play-off hole to claim the individual win at minus-11.
Cal State Monterey Bay took the team win with a 284 in Round 3 to move up two slots.
It was a loaded regional field filled with teams from the California Collegiate Athletic Association and Great Northwest Athletic Conference as the Vulcans finished ahead of Pacific West Conference mates Dominican (No. 13) and Westmont (No. 14).
