LAS CRUCES, New Mexico – Dysen Park shot one-under in the opening round of the 2024 NCAA Men's Golf South Central/West Regional to lead the Vulcans to a No. 10 placement at the New Mexico State University Golf Course.
As a team, Nicholas Gomez (72), Dylan Bercan (76) and Jacob Torres (77) followed up Park's 70 total for a 295 score on the 71-par course at the end of Round 1. Hawai'i Hilo finished in a three-team tie along with Midwestern State and Cal State San Bernardino.
Park, who was slotted in at a seven-way tie for 12th place, started strong with birdies on three holes through the first nine before adding a pair more while also finishing with three of his four total bogeys on the day. Gomez, Bercan and Ben Crinella (78) each tallied up three birdies.

The Vulcans are the only full team competing from the Pacific West Conference while Academy of Art and HPU are represented by individual golfers. ART U's Giulio Zanichelli shot three-under to sit a three-way tie for fourth place.
Host school Western New Mexico currently leads the pack, having shot 277 for a seven-under score. Oklahoma Christian follows at minus-three with West Texas A&M even at par in third place.

Hawai'i Hilo will tee off the second round Friday morning starting at 7:40 a.m. (11:40 a.m. local Mountain Time).
The top five teams and top two student-athletes (not with a team) will advance to the NCAA Men's Golf National Championships, May 21-25, at the Orange County National Golf Center and Lodge in Winter Garden, Florida.
