HAYWARD, California – The 21st-ranked Hawai'i Hilo Men's Soccer team wrapped up its first road trip of the season with a 2-1 victory over Cal Poly Humboldt Saturday afternoon at the Chabot College Soccer Field.

Colby Lee put through the Vulcans' first goal on a penalty kick in the 16th minute and Tom Vorkastner later added the game-winner in the second half with a 54th-minute score.

"We didn't make it easy, but we got it done," Vulcans second-year head coach Diego Marroquin said. "These long road trips are tough, and we just had to grind it out. It was good for us to be able to answer back."

Paul Waschkau got his second start in goal and improved to 2-0 with two saves on the afternoon.

Hawai'i Hilo closes out the road trip at 2-1 after going through the Pacific Northwest and parts of Northern California.

No. 21 Hawai'i Hilo moved to 5-1-0 (0-0-0 Pacific West Conference) while Cal Poly Humboldt moved to a 1-3-2 record (0-0-0 California Collegiate Athletic Association).

The Vulcans return to Hawai'i and will begin PacWest Conference play next Saturday on O'ahu against HPU at Waipi'o Peninsula Soccer Stadium.

Next home game will be Tuesday, Oct. 1 against Academy of Art to start a four-game homestand.

Hawai'i Hilo Men's Soccer landed its first-ever national ranking, coming in at No. 21 in the latest United Soccer Coaches Division II Top 25 Week 2 Poll released this past Tuesday.

The Vulcans also moved up to two spots to No. 3 in the latest West Region poll.
