AZUSA, California – Hawai'i Hilo Women's Basketball fell to No. 8 Azusa Pacific, 66-47, Saturday afternoon in Pacific West Conference play at the Felix Event Center.
Freshman KeanuMarie Huihui led all scorers with a career-high 19 points as the Vulcans made up some ground in the final quarter after outscoring the Cougars, 22-6, with a 12-2 run to start the period.
Hawai'i Hilo was kept to just 12 points in the opening half, shooting .129 from the field, as APU managed to put together a 20-3 scoring spurt in the second quarter.
Despite the loss, the Vulcans were able to contain the 8th-ranked Cougars to a season low of just four 3-pointers while forcing a season-high 20 turnovers.
Hawai'i Hilo moved to 1-6 in PacWest play (3-10 overall) as No. 8 Azusa Pacific moved to a 9-1 conference record (15-2 overall).
OTHER NOTES
- Keirstyn Agonias grabbed one steal to bring her career total to 81, moving into a tie at No. 7 all-time in the Vulcans record books. The junior also entered the program's top 10 with 310 career rebounds, moving ahead of Malia Lee (18-21).
- Hawai'i Hilo is currently No. 13 in the PacWest standings with Azusa Pacific (9-1) at the top.
- The Vulcans were again down to just a seven-player rotation with regular-starters Caiyle Kaupu and Mindy Kawaha out of Saturday's lineup.
