HILO, Hawai'i – Delaney Barbee powered through a pair of goals to lead Hawai'i Hilo Women's Soccer to a 2-0 victory over HPU on Friday afternoon in non-conference play at the Vulcan Soccer Field.
Barbee netted scores in the 17th and 20th minutes. Haley Clark, Mia Berney and Briana Kubli each recorded assists on the goals.
Gabriela Semlick entered in goal to start the second half for the Vulcans, logging her first minutes of the season. Semlick and starter Lydia Keller combined for the team's seventh shutout of the season.
The Vulcans totaled 19 shots (eight on goal) to just three by the Sharks.

- Freshman Kaitlyn Brooks and sophomore Riley Welsh saw their first action of the season.

PACWEST PRESEASON POLL
Hawai'i Hilo was voted No. 3 in the Pacific West Conference Preseason Coaches Poll. The Vulcans finished the 2024 regular season at No. 2 in the conference standings and was one of four teams to qualify for the inaugural PacWest Conference Championships postseason tournament, falling to Point Loma in double overtime of the title game. The 2025 PacWest Championships will be hosted by defending champ Point Loma on Nov. 13-15 in San Diego.
