KOHALA COAST, Hawai'i – Dylan Bercan and the Hawai'i Hilo Men's Golf team finished runner-up at the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate at the Mauna Lani Golf North Course this week.
The Vulcans scored plus-15 as a team and finished the three rounds tied with Cal State Monterey Bay at the top. Both teams played Hole 18 in a playoff with the Otters managing to post the better score to take the team victory. On the final hole of Round 3 (shotgun start), CSUMB's Simon Germain bogeyed on Hole 12 to provide an opening as the Vulcans' top four scorers all hit par to force the playoff.
Bercan posted an opening-round score of 65 at seven-under and eventually finished even for a three-way tied in the runner-up spot — tied with CSUMB's Alexander Cooke and Missouri–St. Louis' Logan Mayo.
Colorado Christian's Peyton Jones — the top-ranked golfer heading into the event — took the individual win at three-under.

PACWEST WEEKLY AWARDS
As the only golf event featuring teams from the Pacific West Conference, Bercan was named PacWest Player of the Week along with the Vulcans earning Team of the Week recognition. HPU, Chaminade and Menlo were the only other schools from the PacWest.
