HILO, Hawai'i – Hawai'i Hilo Women's Volleyball outlasted Azusa Pacific in a thrilling five setter (25-19, 28-30, 26-28, 25-15, 15-10) Wednesday night in Pacific West Conference action at the Vulcan Gymnasium.
Sophomore Isabella Freeman put down a career-high 22 kills (.474) along with seven total blocks. Four total Vulcans finished with double-digit kill figures: Malu Garcia — 19 kills (.214), Isabella Hadaller — 16 kills (.364), Chase Koepke — 14 kills (.348).
Senior setter Emerson Reinke totaled a career-high 64 assists, tying as fourth-best single-game total in the program record books — tied with Desiree Agader against Chaminade in 2007. Entering Wednesday's match, Reinke was ranked No. 2 in all of NCAA Division II for total assists as the Vulcans ranked No. 6 as a team.
Azusa Pacific finished the game hitting .084 while the Vulcans were at .251. Hawai'i Hilo nearly doubled APU in kills at a 78-43 margin, but the Cougars managed to put down 13 service aces to just five from the home team.

PACWEST PRESEASON POLL
Hawai'i Hilo was voted No. 4 in the Pacific West Conference Preseason Coaches Poll released earlier this week. The Vulcans finished 2024 in a four-way tie for fourth place. 2025 will feature the inaugural four-team PacWest Conference Championships postseason tournament hosted by Chaminade on O'ahu (Nov. 20-21).
