HILO, Hawai'i – Hawai'i Hilo Men's Soccer netted two goals to down Biola, 2-1, Thursday afternoon in Pacific West Conference play at the Vulcan Soccer Field.
After a scoreless first half, the Vulcans put through a pair of scores with Mirai Sato putting through a penalty kick attempt in the 66th minute and later Jakob Santiago netting his first career goal in the 81st minute.
Biola's Jeremy Larson got a score back a few minutes later after managing to find a crease between two defenders to sneak the ball just inside the left post for the Eagles' lone shot on goal of the afternoon.
OTHER NOTES
- A combined 33 total fouls were credited in the box score with two yellow cards handed out to each team.
- Mirai Sato netted his third goal of the season, currently landing tied at No. 2 in the PacWest during conference play.
- Hawai'i Hilo currently stands atop the PacWest Conference standings with 10 points with Concordia and Fresno Pacific right behind with nine.

PACWEST PRESEASON POLL
Hawai'i Hilo was voted No. 2 in the Pacific West Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, tying with defending tournament champ Westmont in the second spot. The Vulcans finished the 2024 regular season at No. 5 in the conference standings and was one of four teams to qualify for the inaugural PacWest Conference Championships postseason tournament, falling to the Warriors in double overtime of the semifinal round. The 2025 PacWest Championships will be hosted by Westmont on Nov. 13-15 in Santa Barbara.
