No. 7 Gannon Pulls Away from Vulcans

HILO, Hawai'i – Hawai'i Hilo Women's Basketball fell to No. 7 Gannon, 54-31, Wednesday evening as part of the Big Island Holiday Classic at the Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium.

The first half was a game of runs — Gannon (11-0), Hawai'i Hilo (11-0), Gannon (10-0), Hawai'i Hilo (7-0) — to bring the score to just a three-point margin at halftime. However, the seventh-ranked Golden Knights managed to up their level through the final 20 minutes and shot .452 from the field with just four turnovers. Hawai'i Hilo shot .211 in the second half and committed 11 turnovers.

Redshirt-freshman Tavina Harris posted double-digit figures in just her fourth collegiate game with 15 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double.

The Vulcans took half as many long-range attempts as they did the previous night, but still came away with just two splashes (.200) — both by Kimberly Macias near the tail end of the opening quarter.
