HILO, Hawai'i – Hawai'i Hilo dropped the series finale to Azusa Pacific, 7-1, Saturday evening in Pacific West Conference play at the James "Jimmy" Correa Ballfield at Francis Wong Stadium.
APU managed to rack up 18 hits for the highest total by an opponent in a single game this season against the Vulcans.
Cody Min totaled two hits and drove in the Vulcans lone run of the game to answer a three-run top of the first posted by the Cougars. Noah Lane singled and reached scoring position with a stolen base as Min batted a long-rolling crawler up the middle for the RBI base hit.
The Vulcans had just four total hits with four total runners left on base. APU's hit total is tied for third most by a team in a single game through PacWest play so far this season (Point Loma managed 22 base knocks against Menlo).
Hawai'i Hilo moved to 3-9 in the PacWest (5-12 overall) as Azusa Pacific moved to a 9-7 conference record (11-11 overall). The two teams split the four-game series as Azusa Pacific moved to No. 4 in the conference standings with Hawai'i Hilo at No. 11. The Vulcans will be on the road for the upcoming nine contests with the next home games set for March 30-31 against Chaminade.
