HILO, Hawai'i – Nine newcomers will join the Hawai'i Hilo Women's Volleyball team and first-year head coach Reed Sunahara in a few weeks as the Vulcans get ready to officially start the 2025 season.
Hawai'i Hilo will have a truncated week-and-a-half preseason training schedule (not including travel days) starting Aug. 18 before opening the fall slate with its biennial trip to The Last Frontier for the Hawai'i-Alaska Challenge in Anchorage (Aug. 28-30).
"I'm excited to start the season and get to work," Sunahara said. "We have a challenging opening schedule so there's no room for wasted time."
Fans can have a first look at the 2025 Vulcans with a red/black scrimmage set for Saturday, Aug. 23 at 1 p.m. inside the Vulcan Gymnasium. Admission will be free.
