HILO, Hawai'i – A late equalizing score by Felix Drizinisky drew the Vulcans even as Hawai'i Hilo Men's Soccer finished in a 1-1 tie with Colorado Colorado Springs on Wednesday afternoon at the Vulcan Soccer Field.
UCCS got on the scoreboard early in the 19th minute with a direct free kick by Gustavo Diaz Avila through the top-left corner from 30 yards out.
The Mountain Lions finished with just one additional shot on goal (six total shots) coming in the 70th minute as UCCS was on the counterattack racing down the field with a 2-v-1 advantage. Vulcans goalkeeper Paul Waschkau rushed out and was positioned high in the box to make an epic diving save to his right to stuff UCCS's Sean Belzer.
Nearly 10 minutes later, Ronan McFarland sent a left-footed cross in from 33 yards out as Mirai Sato challenged a UCCS defender and the keeper for the ball, only for it to land in Drizinsky's lap for the open rifle from a few yards out (79').
