ATHERTON, California – Hawai'i Hilo Women's Soccer captured victory Friday afternoon with a 2-0 shutout of Menlo in Pacific West Conference play at Wunderlich Field.
It was the Vulcans' fourth shutout of the season as Menlo had just one shot on goal coming off an early corner kick.
Melanie Guerrero gave the Vulcans the lead heading into halftime after launching from 33 yards out to rattle the cross bar and deflect off the goalkeeper's leg and in for the score. Hawai'i Hilo later added on in the 47th minute with Briana Kubli's second score in consecutive games.
Friday's result was the Vulcans' first win of the early PacWest Conference slate.
OTHER NOTES
- With Lydia Keller's fourth shutout of the season (and her career), she moved into a tie at No. 9 with Alysia Ann Barone (2010-2011) in the Vulcans program record books.

Hawai'i Hilo did not appear on the latest United Soccer Coaches Top 25 Coaches Week 3 Poll nor the West Region Rankings. The Vulcans were last ranked No. 24 in the nation and No. 4 in the West.
PACWEST PRESEASON POLL
Hawai'i Hilo was voted No. 3 in the Pacific West Conference Preseason Coaches Poll. The Vulcans finished the 2024 regular season at No. 2 in the conference standings and was one of four teams to qualify for the inaugural PacWest Conference Championships postseason tournament, falling to Point Loma in double overtime of the title game. The 2025 PacWest Championships will be hosted by defending champ Point Loma on Nov. 13-15 in San Diego.
