DUPONT, WASHINGTON – Hawai'i Hilo Men's Golf's Ben Crinella shot 10-under to claim the individual title at the season-opening Saint Martin's University Bishop Invitational this weekend at The Home Course.
Crinella shot rounds of 69 (-3), 68 (-4) and 69 (-3) to finish 10-under for the first-place finish — also tying Nick Mason (2005 PacWest Championships) for the second-lowest three-round score only behind Jared Kinoshita's 11-under at the 2018 Dennis Rose Intercollegiate.
Crinella entered the final round on Day 2 in a four-way tie for third place at just one stroke behind the leaders. The senior smashed three consecutive birdies in each of the first two rounds — on Holes 16-18 and Holes 15-17, respectively — and landed five of his 14 total birdies through the final 18 (plus one eagle).
Hawai'i Hilo finished fourth with a minus-14 finish, six strokes behind leaders Simon Fraser and Western Washington — SFU won the tiebreaker.
