Women's Basketball Defeated by Biola

HILO, Hawai'i – Hawai'i Hilo Women's Basketball closed its home stand with a 77-54 defeat against Biola on Saturday afternoon in Pacific West Conference play at the Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium.

The Eagles managed to have their best perimeter shooting performance of the season landing team highs of 12 total 3-pointers at a .462 rate — also the most makes surrendered by the Vulcans defense so far for 2025-26.

The short-handed Vulcans, once again with just six players available in rotation, were led by 21 points from Kaile Cruz, going a perfect 13 of 13 (1.000) at the free throw line to set a new single-game program record — topping a 12-for-12 outing by Allie Navarette on Feb. 10, 2020 against Holy Names.

Tavina Harris also totaled a third career double-double on a season-high 20 points (7-11 FG) with 10 rebounds.

  • Overall, Hawai'i Hilo was 22 of 26 (.846) at the free throw line while Biola was just 3 of 6 (.500).
  • Biola finished the game shooting 52.5 percent from the field and 46.2 percent from beyond the arc (12-26 3PT). Hawai'i Hilo shot just .306 and was 2 of 18 on long-range attempts.
