KOHALA COAST, Hawai'i – Hawai'i Hilo Women's Golf finished No. 6 at the HPU Sharks Shootout at Mauna Lani Resort Golf Club North Course on Friday and Saturday.
Kailee McKee led the Vulcans, tying for No. 8 at plus-3 on rounds of 78 and 69. She began Round 2 on Hole 15 with a birdie before adding three more on Holes 3, 10 and 13 to finish nine shots better than her opening round. This marked the second time this season McKee posted a three-under round score (Round 2 at Westmont Invitational).
Lauren Kozohara tied for No. 13 at plus-4 (74–74).
The Vulcans posted rounds of 307 and 297 to finish plus-28, a 10-stroke improvement in Round 2 that produced the third-lowest team round in the field.
Fellow Pacific West Conference member Vanguard took the team win for its first victory at the NCAA Division II level.
Seattle Pacific's Emma Worgum and Vanguard's Theresa Shaw tied for first at five-under before Shaw won the four-hole playoff for the individual win.
