HILO, Hawai'i – Hawai'i Hilo Women's Basketball fell to Point Loma, 84-53, Saturday afternoon in Pacific West Conference play at the Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium.
It was a tightly contested matchup through the first 10 minutes of play, but the Sea Lions started to pull away at just under the five-minute mark of the second quarter and outscored the Vulcans 32-7 through to the end of the third period.
Vulcans redshirt-freshman Tavina Harris poured in a new career high of 21 points (9-12 FG) with seven rebounds.
Keirstyn Agonias added 17 points, five rebounds, five assists and two steals. The senior went 4 for 4 at the free throw line, bringing her career total to 147 to move past Hotia Vaaimamao (2010-2012) to No. 8 in the program record books.
Hawai'i Hilo was down to just six players available in rotation.
GAME NOTES
- Saturday's contest was the Vulcans' annual Play4Kay game as the team donned pink uniforms in support of (breast) cancer awareness for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund — named after the late former NC State women's basketball coach Kay Yow, a Hall of Fame coach whose long battle with breast cancer helped inspire the fundraiser's mission.
