Men's Basketball Falters to FPU

HILO, Hawai'i – Hawai'i Hilo Men's Basketball dropped a 63-55 decision to Fresno Pacific on Tuesday night in Pacific West Conference play at the Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium.

The Vulcans held the advantage on the scoreboard at the break at a four-point margin, but FPU managed to come out and shoot 48.0 percent in the second half while hitting five 3-pointers.

Hawai'i Hilo rallied late with a 14-8 run — going 10 of 11 at the free throw line — to make it a four-point game with just over two minutes to go, but FPU managed to respond with an 8-1 run (4-4 FT) to put the game away.

Julio Montes II led the Vulcans with 15 points (7-8 FT) followed by Brody Davis (14) and Jayden Hosein (12).

Flying Hawaiian Foundation

FLYING HAWAIIAN FOUNDATION

The Flying Hawaiian Foundation continues to honor former Vulcan (2001-2005) J. Kimo Keiter-Charles, who passed away in 2020. Founded in 2021, the Flying Hawaiian Foundation supports Hawai'i Hilo Athletics and youth education-based programs on the Big Island, contributing more than $100,000 to the local community. Board members Cecile Walch, Chris Keiter, and Gary Ahu Jr. were recognized at halftime for the Flying Hawaiian Foundation's donation to the Vulcans Men's Basketball program.
