CALIFORNIA – Hawaiʻi Hilo Men's Tennis has clinched one of six spots in the 2026 PacWest Championships set for April 15-17 at the Surprise Tennis & Racquet Complex in Surprise, Arizona.
The Vulcans — holding a 6-7 overall record while going 3-4 against PacWest opponents — were ranked No. 5 in the penultimate PacWest Conference rankings released Monday morning. Final seedings will be announced on April 11.
Teams were selected by a panel of PacWest administrators, represented by two members from each geographical pod (six total) of Hawaiʻi, Northern California and Southern California. The top two criteria (from a list of seven) for the selection committee to consider is head-to-head results followed by records against common Division-II (PacWest) opponents. Six of the nine PacWest teams qualify for the postseason event, down from eight in previous seasons.
Hawai'i Hilo is in the midst of its final weekend of regular-season competition, taking on No. 45 HPU on Monday afternoon on O'ahu in the season finale.
On the women's side, the Vulcans came in at No. 9 to just narrowly miss out on qualifying for the women's championship field, which was also reduced from 12 to eight teams this season.
