HILO, Hawai'i – Today is UH Giving Day 2026 and Hawai'i Hilo Vulcans Athletics, along with the entire University of Hawai'i System, is asking for your support.
This 24-hour fundraising event on Tuesday, April 8 brings together the entire University of Hawai'i 'ohana in support of students, programs and communities across the state. For Hawai'i Hilo Athletics, gifts go directly toward athletics scholarships, team apparel and equipment to ensure student-athletes and coaches have every opportunity to compete at the highest level.

"Your generosity plays a vital role in shaping the future of our student-athletes, our community and our athletics department," UH Hilo director of athletics Patrick Guillen said. "In the ever-changing landscape of collegiate athletics, it is through your support that we will ensure our programs and student-athletes are provided with the resources and opportunities to compete at the highest level."
Among many donation challenges offered today are:
- The Vulcans Challenge, offered by AD Guillen, unlocks $1,200 for Vulcans Athletics when 25 donors give.
- The Chancellor's Challenge, offered by UH Hilo Chancellor Bonnie Irwin, unlocks an additional $5,000 — to be divided between Basic Needs and Kuleana & Community — when 100 donations are made across all UH Hilo funds.
- The President's Challenge, offered by UH President Wendy Hensel, unlocks a $15,000 gift to the UH Scholarship Endowment fund when 1,500 donors give across all 10 UH campuses systemwide.
