SAN MARCOS, California – Hawai'i Hilo Softball's season came to a close with a 10-2 defeat to Cal State Dominguez Hills in the NCAA West Regional Round at the CSUSM Softball Field.
Hawai'i Hilo, the No. 8 seed, plated a run in the opening frame on an RBI hit from Mia Joaquin for the early lead, but unfortunately it was all Toros from there.
CSUDH managed to respond with three runs in the bottom half of the first and added six more in the second inning, combining to tally up eight of their 10 total hits.
Mia Joaquin went 2 for 2 and drove in both Vulcans runs with RBI singles in the first and third innings — scoring Rayna White both times.
Cal State Dominguez Hills advanced to face fifth-seed seed Cal State Monterey Bay in the Elimination Bracket Finals winning, 5-2, and will play top seed Cal State San Marcos in tomorrow's sub-regional championship series. On the other side of the West Regional bracket, Concordia and Western Washington were also eliminated with sixth-seed Biola and second-seed Cal State East Bay playing for the chance to advance to the West Super-Regional Round next week.
Hawai'i Hilo closed the 2026 season with a 26-19 overall record in head coach Aisha Sueda's fifth season.

- Game ended in five innings with the eight-runs-after-five-innings mercy rule.
- Vulcans used three pitchers before Mia Castillo entered in the bottom of the second to throw the final 2.1 innings with just two hits, one walk and one run surrendered.
- Former Vulcan Dyoni Garcia managed four RBI against her former team.
