HILO, Hawai'i – Hawai'i Hilo Women's Volleyball opened Pacific West Conference play with a sweep of Chaminade, 3-0 (25-17, 25-13, 25-22), on Saturday evening at the Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium.
Chase Koepke led the Vulcans with 12 kills (.455) while Alohi Garcia added 11 kills to go with six digs. Logan Blutreich had six kills without an attack error (.667). Hawai'i Hilo held Chaminade to -.028 attacking as a team — the lowest of the season for the Silverswords and the first negative percentage since 2022.
Hawai'i Hilo controlled the match from the opening whistle as Chaminade only led early in Set 3 at a 6-2 score before the Vulcans immediately answered with five straight points and never looked back.
Saturday's win was Hawai'i Hilo's second consecutive victory over Chaminade and its first over the Silverswords in PacWest Conference play since September 2021 — snapping an eight-match PacWest skid in the series.

PACWEST HAWAI'I CHALLENGE
Hawai'i Hilo opens the volleyball portion of the 2026-27 PacWest Hawai'i Challenge with two points. The year-long multi-sport leaderboard tracks head-to-head results (men's soccer, women's soccer, women's volleyball, men's basketball, women's basketball, softball, baseball) and conference event results (women's cross country, women's tennis, men's golf) in equally sponsored sports between Hawai'i's three NCAA Division II schools (Chaminade and HPU). PACWEST CONFERENCE PRESEASON POLL
Hawai'i Hilo was voted No. 3 in the 2026 PacWest Preseason Coaches Poll. The Vulcans finished the 2025 regular season tied at No. 3 in the conference standings. The four-team 2026 PacWest Championships postseason tournament will be hosted by Vanguard University on Nov. 13-14 in Costa Mesa, California.
