HILO, Hawai'i – Maia Hales netted her first career goal as Hawai'i Hilo Women's Soccer took a 2-0 victory over HPU in non-conference play on Sunday afternoon at the Vulcan Soccer Field.
Hales connected on a long assist from Brooke Peiler to head the ball in from 30 yards out and put the Vulcans on the scoreboard in the 10th minute.
Later in the half, Shae Dougherty drew a foul inside the penalty area to set up a successful penalty-kick score by Elise Flores — her first goal of the season.
The Vulcans out-shot the Sharks, 18-7, with a 12-2 advantage through the opening half of play.
