WHY HAWAI‘I HILO
» "I went to UH Manoa for my freshman year and never felt like I fully found my place. I stuck to the one thing I loved to stay true to myself, which was running, while trying to figure my life out. I ran all year. The summer I came home I had a severe anemia episode and was bed ridden. I couldn't do what I loved until I was recovered and realized how much it meant to me. As I was slowly starting to recover, housing options came into play for my sophomore year. Everything was too expensive but I wanted to stay in Hawai‘i. I was looking for a sign for an opportunity since summer was coming to an end. I emailed the cross country coach, not expecting a response and he offered me a spot and I decided to take it!"
