Playing a familiar foe proved to be a challenge for the University of Hawaii at Hilo as they beat Chaminade University for the third time this season with a
2-0 win in the Pacific West Conference match on the UHH field.
"It's hard to play a team the third time and it showed," said UHH head coach Marc Miranda. "Mentally, it was hard to wake up and get yourself going in a third match against a team you've been successful.
"It showed when we fizzled there in the second half."
The Vulcans (5-6-1 overall, 4-4 PacWest) got on the board on a cross pass from Chelsea Gomez to Lauren Minami. Minami then got things started for the second goal with a pass to the middle. Emily Cadiz popped that pass out to the top where Natalie Palacios drove it by the goalie.
The Vulcans out shot the Silverswords (2-6, 2-4) 29-2 with 15 shots on goal.
