In a Pacific West Conference match up, the University of Hawaii at Hilo fell short to California Baptist University, 70-83, at the UHH gym.
The Vulcans had five players in double digits. They were led by
Oxone- Ross Mavungu with 12 points and seven rebounds.
CJ Brown and
Brandon Thomas also scored 12 points,
Derek Owens had 11 and
Paul Batausa had10.
The Vulcans trailed as much as 22 points, seven minutes into the second half of the game. They slowly began working their way back. They got as close as 10 points with one minute left in the game.
“For the guys to play hard and cut that lead down and get it where it was,” said
UH Hilo Head Coach Jeff Law, “says a lot. They gave it their effort and played hard.”
“We were a little undermanned tonight and that'll be taken cared of. Everything should be okay and we'll move on.”
