Box Score 2 A 6-0, 6-5 doubleheader sweep of Azusa Pacific University lifted the University of Hawaii at Hilo into sole possession of first place in the Pacific West Conference standings. The Vulcans began the day tied with idle Grand Canyon.
Vanessa Salinas continued her winning ways, earning her fourth straight win and second consecutive shutout. Salinas scattered four hits, struck out four and walked only one batter.
Rebecca Lee's rbi double in the first got the scoring started. An error on a double steal attempt and a wild pitch scored two more runs.
Emily Greene's sacrifice fly and
Brandi Wilson's rbi single plated two more runs in the second inning.
Salinas capped the scoring by launching her first homerun of the year in the sixth.
Brittany Huff and Wilson paired hits for the Vulcans.
Colleen Aubrey and Greene drove in all six runs and the Vulcans held off the Cougars in game two. Greene hit a three run homer in the first. Aubrey singled in a run in the second and doubled home two more in the fourth.
The Cougars scored two runs in the seventh to get to 6-5. They had a runner on third with two outs when
Ashley Nelson got the last out on a routine fly ball to right field.

Kristina Victa added two.
