SAN DIEGO, Calif. – A quick Point Loma Nazarene score and the University of Hawaii at Hilo knew they would be on the defensive end of the match as they fell 1-0.
Just seven minutes into the match,
Kaiti Freeberg rolled a crossing pass to the middle.
Easton Kawawaki lined up the shot and scored the game-winner on their second shot of the match.
From that point on, the Vulcans would face 23 more shots with eight on goal. It wasn't until the second half when
Kahri Golden took the Vulcans' only shot of the match which went wide.
Playing in only her third match wearing the bright orange goalie jersey,
Tiani Teanio recorded eight saves.
The Vulcans next play Concordia University on Thursday, October 29 in Irvine, Calif.
