IRVINE, Calif. – The University of Hawaii at Hilo gave up a hat-trick as they fell 4-1 to Concordia University in PacWest women's soccer action.
Alexis Garcia-Irons put the Eagle up with her fourth goal of the season 17 minutes into the match. Then Alex Laing ran down a ball to the 31-yard mark and nailed an open shot on the goal for a 2-0 lead.
Tiera Arakawa tallied her second goal of the year to make of game of the match
. Leighana Weaver took the opening touch of the second half and got the ball to Arakawa in the middle. A little footwork and Arakawa passed a defender and goalie to pull the Vulcans within one just 26 seconds into the period.
Unfortunately, Garcia-Irons put the game away with a goal 14 minutes later and then completed the hat trick with another goal in the final two minutes.
The Vulcans were outshot 20-7 while freshman goalie
Tiani Teanio made eight saves.
The Vulcans nex t play Azusa Pacific University in a 5 p.m. match on Saturday, October 21 in Azusa, Calif.
