Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 BELMONT, Calif.—Splitting hairs, splitting the difference, anything to do with splits, the Hawai`i Hilo softball knows it well lately.

For the fourth straight time, the Vulcans split a doubleheader, this time with Notre Dame de Namur on Monday. The Vulcans won the first game via mercy rule, 12-2, but were kept off the scoreboard in the nightcap, 4-0.

The Vulcans are now 12-16 overall and 6-12 in the Pacific West Conference. The Argonauts are 6-11 on the year and 6-8 in the PWC.

UHH scored four runs in the first inning and three in the second to put a quick hurt on NDNU in the first game. The Vulcans would go on to lash out 12 hits in the game.

Brinell Kaleikini had two of those hits, a double and triple and drove in two runs. Kristen Ishii, Mari Kawano and Billi Derleth also had a pair of hits each.

Leah Gonzales helped win the game in both the pitching circle and at bat. At the plate, she hit a home run and drove in three, and she improved to 3-3 as a pitcher. She went five innings, allowed six hits, one earned run and struck out three.

Danielle Antolin also hit a home run.

In the second game, UHH's bats went silent. NDNU's Audree Vicory pitched a seven-inning shutout, allowing only five hits, two of them by Antolin.

The Vulcans had runners on second and third in the third inning, but couldn't score. That would be their best opportunity of the day.

UHH will play another PacWest doubleheader tomorrow, taking on Holy Names at Cal State East Bay. Games will begin at 1 p.m. PDT.
