Radio, Video Stream Broadcast Available for Vulcan Home Games

HILO, Hawai`i--The University of Hawai`i Hilo athletic department and radio station AM 670 KPUA-Hilo will team up again this year to broadcast home Vulcan basketball games.

Additionally, UH Hilo women's basketball games will be on the air after the first of the year and both the men's and women's contests will be available on video stream for all home games.

The radio broadcast and the first video stream will be available next week for the men's basketball opener on Monday, Nov. 12 versus Alaska, followed by MBB vs. Simpson on Nov. 15, WBB vs. Multnomah on Nov. 16 (stream only) and hoop doubleheaders on Saturday, Nov. 17 (stream only).

The video stream will be ramped up from a year ago, following the debut during volleyball season of the collaboration of Out of the Sea Media and the UH Hilo athletic department. Two-camera shots, replays and play-by-play audio will enhance the video experience for fans on the mainland and for those that cannot make it to the Civic Auditorium for that particular game.

The radio broadcast on AM 670 continues the long-standing relationship between the station and the UH Hilo. AM 670 KPUA-Hilo was the carrier of Vulcan basketball games back in the late 1980's, the early 1990's, the mid 2000's and then again in 2017-18.

For the video stream, three packages are available for purchase during the 2018-19 Vulcan basketball season. Individual games can be obtained for $7.95 a contest, while a season pass for all 15 home games (women and men separately) can be purchased for $89.95.

To sign up for a single broadcast or season package, go to the UH Hilo athletic website at www.hiloathletics.com. At the top of the page, scroll to Schedules and then click on Men's or Women's Basketball. Click on the "Watch" button next to the game of your choice, and then on the TV monitor icon. Follow the prompts from there.

UH Hilo sports information director Russ Blunck will provide the play-by-play. Blunck is in his third year in the UHH athletic department, and previously served as the voice of radio broadcasts at Western Oregon University in football, basketball and baseball. He also broadcast all Sea Lion video stream events at Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego.
