LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz.--No. 3 regionally ranked California Baptist, playing in their final Pacific West Conference Championship before moving to NCAA Division I status next year, ran away from the field on the final day of the tournament, winning by 32 strokes.
The Lancers finished with a +7 tally of 875, with No. 6 regionally ranked Academy of Art a distant second at +43 (907). PacWest newcomer Biola finished third (+81). The Vulcans shot four strokes better on Wednesday than they did on Tuesday and turned in an overall score of 1061, finishing ninth.
It was the fourth straight PacWest title for the Lancers.
Kiri Oshiro was UH Hilo's low scorer in the third and final round, shooting an 85, her second lowest score of the year.
Dillyn Sakai provided the Vulcans' overall lowest tally, shooting an 87 on all three days for a 261 total. Oshiro was at 263,
Keely Kitamura 268 and
Kimberly Katayama 269.
Academy of Art's Anahi Servin ran away with PacWest medalist honors, finishing ten-under par (206). The freshman rode a PacWest record 64 on the first day, and shot 72 and 70 in rounds two and three. Her final tally of 206 was also a PacWest record. CBU's Erica Wang was nine shots back (-1), shooting 73-66-76, the Lancers' Jocelyn Chee Yi Min finishing in third (+3).
California Baptist secured the automatic berth to the West/South Central Super Regional. The rest of the PacWest teams will find out next week who will qualify for the the post-season.
