A chance to meet some of the University of Hawai`i Hilo coaches and student-athletes proved to be a great draw at Cronies Bar and Grill in Hilo last Thursday evening.

Nearly 150 people packed Cronies for a chance to mingle with the coaches, players and each other on a festive night. Student-Athletes from the volleyball team, baseball squad and men's basketball team were on hand, and the fans in attendance heard from head coaches Gene Krieger (volleyball), GE Coleman (basketball) and Kallen Miyataki (baseball). 

"I want to thank the community for coming out and supporting our program," said UH Hilo athletic director Patrick Guillen. "It was a great night to get to know our coaches and for them to interact with each other."

Vulcan Booster Club president Joe Marsh spoke, as did Guillen, with JE Orozco presiding as the master of ceremonies. 

"I especially want to thank the Vulcan Booster Club for doing a tremendous job in getting the word out and driving attendance," Guillen added. "Special thanks goes to Lincoln Ashida for his coordination and organization with Cronies, who did a wonderful job with the food. Mahalo!!"

Plans are in the works for another mixer later in the school year, with coaches and student-athletes from other sports in attendance.
