Volleyball middle blocker
Armani Moultrie and soccer defender
Camille Strazzo helped their respective UH Hilo teams to successful weeks and have been named Vulcan Pepsi Athletes of the Week for October 14-20.
Armani Moultrie smashed her way to a career-high 17 kills in a straight sets win over Fresno Pacific on Saturday night at Vulcan Gymnasium. She hit .556 on her way to her best match as a collegian. She had just two errors on the night and added a block and three digs. The next night (Sunday) against Dominican, she added nine more kills (which would have equaled her previous career best), a solo block and three assisted blocks. The middle blocker from Inglewood, Calif. has helped the Vulcans to record ten straight wins.
Camille Strazzo, a junior defender from Sutter Creek, Calif., played a key role at both ends of the field as the Vulcans tied Domincan (0-0) and defeated Fresno Pacific (2-0). Strazzo and her defensive teammates didn't allow the Penguins or Sunbirds to score in 200 total minutes of soccer. The Sierra College transfer also got into the action on offense, taking a corner kick in the back of a pack of players and heading it into the goal for insurance against FPU. The Vulcans are now 2-1-1 in the PacWest, heading into a four-match road trip.
