Bria Beale and
Alexandria Parisian are this week's Hawai`i Hilo Pepsi Athletes of the Week after a title chasing weekend on Oahu.
Alexandria Parisian played a key role as the Vulcans moved up a notch in the Pacific West Conference title chase. She had 12 kills in the win over Chaminade, adding eight digs and two block assists. She had two of her kills late in the fifth set as the Vulcans knocked off the conference leaders in five grueling sets. Against Hawaii Pacific, the sophomore from Apple Valley, Calif. had 14 kills and hit .400. She added three block assists and six digs, and had three kills towards the end of the 18-16 fifth set.
Bria Beale continues to have an MVP-type season for the Vulcans. The junior from Eastvale, Calif. had 21 kills and 17 digs in the win over Chaminade, throwing in a service ace and solo block for good measure. Against the Sharks, she had a career-high 25 kills, 14 digs and two blocks. In her second season at UHH, the former UC Irvine transfer leads the PacWest in kills with 354 (68 more than the nearest competitor) and in points (4.38 per set).Â
The Vulcan volleyball team takes a week off before resuming their title chase in southern California, Nov. 11-16.
